"Poggio del Sole & Poggio Verde" and the surrounding
areas:
Recently awarded Regional Park status, Lake Trasimeno and its islands provide an important ecosystem offering a habitat for many migratory and non-migratory species of fauna.
As well as offering a multitude of starting points for the naturalist, Italy's fourth largest lake is also surrounded by important man-made works.
There are many hamlets and villages, most of mediaeval origin, which rise up along its inlets and in the surrounding areas nearby such as: Castiglione del Lago, with its rock precipice on the lake, Passignano, Tuoro and the archaeological region, Citta' della Pieve and others.
The town of Chiusi, with its Etruscan roots, houses numerous exhibits of this ancient civilization.
There is a vast network of pathways open to both the serious and the casual visitor, with short and long routes on both foot and bicycle.
